Playful pumpkins

The modern day collab of the luxury giant and avant-garde artist puts to center stage Yayoi Kusama’s iconic joyful pumpkins. This design has long been a representation of her whimsical wonderland since childhood. Also, this motif features a nod to the original 2012 collection called Pumpkin Minaudière with the leather Pumpkin bag appearing in yellow, black, silver, and multicolored variations. This is definitely Yayoi Kusama’s love affair to tradition and innovation, birthing a unique range of colors and sizes—a design that is not only an extraordinary shape of a bag or quirky portraits, but also one that leads you to embrace playful elements of art through Louis Vuitton’s luxurious pieces.

Blossoming flowers

Unveiled in the collaboration’s second drop is Yayoi Kusama’s flora. The delicate artistry of flowers by the artist blooms in collaboration with Louis Vuitton, carrying fashion enthusiasts to the beauty of blooming gardens. Kusama vividly captured her childhood memories through her love for flowers. The fashion House’s clothing, bags, and accessories bring to life Kusama’s florals in delicate embroideries, intricate prints, and leather intarsias. From the placement prints on gabardine trousers to the worked intarsia flourish on leather gilets and bustiers, this collection is a true form of artistry. And for a more understated feel, the flowers are printed on silk foulards and replicated on the bottles and traveling cases of “Spell on You” perfumes.

Joyful faces

This third iconic element of Yayoi Kusama is the presence of joyful faces in Louis Vuitton’s luxury goods. The brand’s iconic Monogram collides with the chaotic charm of Kusama’s faces. The joyful characters from the “My Eternal Soul” series are the stars of the show. Cascading over clothing and accessories in hyper-printing and intense embroidery on a luminous Delphinium Blue background. Denim takes on a new level of artistry with an engineered printing process, creating light blue stonewash jeans, jackets, and bustiers. Meanwhile, women’s leather goods feature a riot of faces disrupting the iconic Monogram canvas on bags such as the Neverfull, On-The-Go, Speedy, and Alma.

The second coming of infinity

The mesmerizing remark that concludes all of the design lineup is a nod to Yayoi Kusama’s imagery of eternity. It is truly mesmerizing that it has the power to transport every fashion enthusiast to another dimension. The intricate repetitive patterns of infinity dots are found across categories and genders. The drop of the second collection also includes additional colorways such as black and fuchsia, sky blue and white, and white and red. This iconic design found their form on Louis Vuitton’s classic bags, including On-The-Go, Neverfull, and Pochette Metis.

The Infinity Net design remains a cornerstone of Kusama’s artistic legacy, inspiring new creations in the fashion realm. In this collection, the repetitive nature of the artist’s paintings is echoed in the use of precise embroidery and marquetry. Overall, the second drop still proves Yayoi Kusama’s art has the power to captivate and inspire decades after its creation. And with Louis Vuitton’s expertise in luxury pieces, this definitely is another momentous collaboration like no other.

The latest collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Yayoi Kusama will be launched globally on March 31.
