From honoring classic high school themes to celebrating new ones, Star Magical Prom highlights this generation’s breed of stars
Growing up is filled with back-to-back hellos and goodbyes. As you bid farewell to another chapter, much like during graduation, here comes an exciting start. Maturity can hit you right in your heartstrings, filling you with equal parts nostalgia and joy. For the young stars and even the audience of ABS-CBN, the first ever Star Magical Prom is all about that.
While the event is meant to be a move forward for ABS-CBN’s new breed of talents, it is also about honoring the history of how much Star Magic has grown over the years. MEGA Entertainment breaks down the elements where past, present, and future collide at the Star Magical Prom:
Room for blossoming ground
Signaling the bloom of child actors and even the emergence of up-and-coming stars, flowers of all shapes, shades, and sizes adorned Bellevue Hotel for the said occasion. Event stylist Dave Sandoval even imported floras from Ecuador, giving a range of pastels in the whole setting.
Growing into character
Star Magical Prom is a celebration of the management’s younger members, from child actors growing up to emerging talents on their way to unleash their full potential. Divided into freshmen, sophomore, junior, and senior groups, the whole party felt like a real high school gathering. Among the most-awaited artists was Jana Agoncillo, the child-star-turned-freshman member of Star Magic.
Strengthening the bond
High school is where some of the best friendships are formed, and that’s the case for the industry as well. During the Star Magical Prom, girl group BINI walked the ivory carpet together.
Meanwhile, Gillian Vicencio and Karina Bautista attended the prom as a duo whose chemistry was through the roof—from the proposal to their actual attendance.
Spotting the styles
The event witnessed the different iterations of the Bridgerton theme in the outfits of the stars. Catching our eyes is Amanda Zamora’s use of gloves to add character to her look.
Meanwhile, AC Bonifacio fused the puff sleeve of the Regency era and the butterfly silhouette from our own Filipiniana into one with her ensemble last night.
Burning for two
Of course, what’s a prom without that classic and lowkey but kilig pairing? Topping our list is Jeremiah Lisbo and Kaori Oinuma who first starred in He’s Into Her. After being paired in Love At First Stream, they seem to be developing a deeper connection, and we might just see that on-screen with their newest project, Fractured, coming soon.
