The Trending Piece Every Fashion Girl Wore This New Year

Forget sequined dresses or metallic skirts — polka dots reigned supreme during this new year’s eve festivities. Fashion girls in the likes of Liz Uy, Nicole Andersson, Vina Guerrero, Gabbi Garcia and Elisse Joson all rang in 2018 wearing this retro print, and it was quite easy for anyone to spot it. Some of these dotted looks were prim and playful as how it normally goes, but others were surprisingly edgy too.

While it has been a local belief that round shapes (AKA coins, oranges, or polka dots) signify a prosperous year ahead, it seemed like the coin-sized print was extra appealing to many fashion girls this new year, and we can see why. The once old-fashioned spotty print has been making a modern mark, thanks to designers Rodarte, Jacquemus and Carolina Herrera, easily making it a trending print this coming Spring (move away, florals). In fact, even couture gowns were unexpectedly adorned with the classic print, only proving that it comes with no limitations!

For real-life inspirations, scroll to see how style stars wore polka dots this NYE!

1. Liz Uy

Lend your monochrome OOTD a playful edge with a polka dotted corset belt. As proven by Liz Uy herself, all you need is a touch of polka dots to make your all-black ensemble a little less serious.

2. Nicole Andersson

Nicole toughened up her dainty polka dotted top with a red leather skirt that fits her like a glove.

3. Elisse Joson

Elisse was matching with her family in an all-monochrome polka-dotted fashion. If it is said to bring in luck, why not give it a go?

4. Gabbi Garcia

Likewise, MEGAstyle’s November 2017 cover girl Gabbi–along with her family members–rang in the new year wearing the classic print in a cool blue hue.

5. Vina Guerrero

Celebrating the new year out of town, Vina comfortably sported polka dots via breezy separates.
