The Wildest Shoe Drops of the Season

The Wildest Shoe Drops of the Season

By

From a sneaker that can be worn on both ends to a pair of diamond-studded kicks, the world of footwear has recently been serving up really wild shoe drops

We are seeing a sudden rise in the production of outlandish and wild shoe designs, from extreme shapes to bizarre references. There’s no doubt that sneakerheads and fashion enthusiasts alike will be captivated by these crazy, one-of-a-kind kicks, even though some would call them unpleasant. It is fascinating to witness how different shoe designers are pushing the boundaries to change the way we think about shoes. On that note, here are some of the extreme shoe drops we’ve seen lately:

A step backwards

MSCHF BWD Sneakers

A sneaker that can be worn on either foot marks a first for the footwear industry. Just when you thought MSCHF was done making bizarre shoes, they go and make a crazy pair that can be worn both ways. The BWD Shoe makes use of a striking and a very directional shape that is fashioned out white leather, orange suede, and a black rubber sole. After the success of their Big Red Boot drop, it won’t be surprising to see if the BWD sneaker release on April 11th will sell out just as quickly.

From office to the streets

Supreme Loafers

Supreme’s latest collaboration with iconic British footwear brand Dr. Martens brings a new version of the Penton Tassel Loafer. This footwear is offered in basic black, blue, and cow patterns. The smooth leather vamps look great with the brand’s logo inscribed on the metal tassel rings. While Supreme’s newest loafers may not look particularly outlandish in terms of its shape, their campaign proves that these shoes are more than just for formal attire. Instead, it presents a cutting-edge fusion of sophistication and streetwear flair.

Frog-faced footwear

Jonathan Anderson and Wellipets Collaboration

One of the best moments of the Fall/Winter 2023 season was when Jonathan Anderson announced his thrilling collaboration with Wellipets. Wellipets became popular in the 1980s when Princess Diana dressed her children Prince William and Prince Harry in frog-faced boots. Anderson updated the classic Wellipets design, which is a pair of calf-high boots with bulging frog eyes at the top and a crimson mouth at the toe, into a waterproof slip-on. Each shoe has a frog’s face on the front and is available in green, yellow, and blue PVC vamp with a rubber sole.

Blinged-out

diamond-encrusted sneakers Tiffany & Co

While this is just an April Fools’ Day joke, everyone saw the diamond-encrusted sneakers Tiffany & Co. shared on social media, which left sneakerheads hoping for the real deal. Each shoe in this imaginative pair was adorned with over 17,000 sparkling diamonds, weighing a staggering 1,837 carats. It also had a gray lace-up silhouette with thick rubber soles and thick gray velcro closures.
