These Pre-Fall Collections are an Ode to the Early 2000s

It seems that the Y2K aesthetic isn’t going away for a while, and these Pre-Fall collections are giving us the vibe of the early 2000s

We have reached the last month of the year and it seems like the Y2K aesthetic isn’t going away anytime soon. They continue to fill the stores we roam around in and they flood the feeds of social media. It’s evident that the early 2000s style is here to stay, and the fashion industry isn’t done experimenting with this quirky trend.

And just this month, the runway comes back to life as fashion brands present their Pre-Fall collections to the world. While some stay true to their brand identity, there are some who headed for a direction that is dynamic and youthful.

Jacquemus

The French label is loved by many for their minimalistic edge and complex construction done in such subtle manner. But for their Pre-Fall collection, the label harnessed a playful and refreshing concept compared to their usual style elements.

From tie-dye prints to low rise skirts paired with a tight cardigan, we can’t deny that these pieces remind us of the traveling outfits many have done during the early 2000s.

Givenchy

Following their S/S23 collection, Givenchy goes for a soft edge style inspired by American urban culture combined with the French way of dressing.

Their denim coordinates include a cropped jacket, low-rise baggy jeans, and sweaters cut at the lower bust area that one can easily reference to the early days of Paris Hilton.

Proenza Schouler

The early 2000s doesn’t just consist of risky ensembles and saturated colors—the other side is filled with chic and sleek outfits we have grown to love from chick flicks and rom coms during that time.

Basic tops layered with leather coordinates or a full monochromatic look that plays with textures—we have seen these outfits too many times and Proenza Schouler’s collection may have taken a thing or two from the other side of the early 2000s.
