Through the Kamiseta x Kaayo collaboration, you can have a piece of Mindanao artistry and culture wherever you go.
Apart from being known for their talent, creativity, and culture, resilience is one word that comes to mind when we think of Filipinos. Through hardships, calamities, and a global pandemic, Filipinos continue to come together to weather storms. This is what inspired two local brands Kaayo and Kamiseta to create their collaboration.
Two proudly homegrown and women-led brands, Kamiseta and Kaayo aims to take the Filipino culture to the global stage and to encourage nationalism among fellow Filipinos. The collection will be showcasing the many treasures and creativity of Mindanao and its people—a first for Kamiseta.
For their first collection, Kamiseta x Kaayo will be working with women of the Tboli Tribe, Ate Elena and Jie Jie, from Lake Sebu. They will be showing their hand beading techniques—an illustration of their rich culture, skill, and artistry. With this, it also help give livelihood to local indigenous tribes in Mindanao.
This collaboration is also a celebration of women empowerment. Being both women entrepreneurs, Kamiseta founder and CEO Cris Aldeguer-Roque and Kaayo founder Marga Nograles believe in the extraordinary abilities of women. “There is no doubt that women can shine even in the most challenging of times and inspire those around them to survive and flourish,” they shared. “History has shown time and time again that when we lift women up, the entire country rises with them.”
A collaboration that boasts of Filipino pride, as well as women empowerment and celebration of Filipino culture, the Kamiseta x Kaayo collection is definitely a must-have addition to our wardrobe.
