The very first time I ever got to try out anything from Cetaphil was back in my first year of college. My dermatologist then recommended their iconic Cetaphil Cleansing Lotion. It did wonders for my skin as acne breakouts became less frequent, and it also managed to balance my skin so much so that I no longer had to worry about getting too oily on my t-zone area or too dry on my cheeks. Today, at the age of 46, I’m trying out their new Soothing Foam Wash which, incidentally, came at the perfect time since the week it arrived, I had literally just come from the derma where I had a laser procedure done that required the use of an extra gentle cleanser for the next few days thereafter.
Cetaphil’s Soothing Cleanser is specifically formulated for those with dry to normal and sensitive skin, and that week, my skin was extra sensitive because it had just undergone a procedure that used high levels of heat so my skin was sort of feeling a bit raw and sore and really needed some TLC. Ingredients like Allantoin which intensely hydrates the skin, reduces itchiness and heals minor injuries coupled with Glycerin which benefits the skin barrier by pulling water from the air to keep the skin hydrated and minimize water loss are really what helped ensure that my skin wouldn’t be compromised after cleansing.
Most people don’t realize that cleansing is one of the most important steps in a complete skin regimen because it’s the first thing you need to do, and it sets the tone for the remaining steps of your everyday routine. If your cleanser isn’t effective, it may jeopardize the rest of the steps and how those products perform. The cleanser itself feels creamy and lathers quite generously. It is lightly fragranced, and this is something I appreciated because I honestly gravitate towards products that are simple in both form and fragrance.
After cleaning, I applied all the remaining products—toner, moisturizer, serum, eye cream, and spf, then began my usual makeup routine. The end result? My skin felt hydrated all day, and my makeup also noticeably adhered extra well since, as most makeup artists who make sure to prep skin prior to makeup application will attest, skin that is properly moisturized allows foundation to cling better. This cleanser is definitely something that I will add permanently to my trusted roster of skin care products as it has definitely improved my skin and positively influenced the effectiveness of the rest of the products I use on a daily basis as well.
