It looks like there is no slowing down on the fashion forefront as H&M releases another capsule yet again.
Whether you have fully realized it or not, the holidays are fast approaching, which brings with it (climate change notwithstanding) a cool breeze. If you are ready for it or not, you don’t need to sweat, because we’ve found the perfect sweaters for the holidays through the pleasant and most welcome surprise that is the H&M x Pringle of Scotland collection.
Known for releasing collaborative capsules with storied fashion and textile houses—from Maison Margiela, Alexander Wang, Kenzo, Balmain, GP & J Baker, Richard Allan, to Moschino—H&M taps Scottish heritage label Pringle of Scotland to its growing and thriving list.
Renowned as one of the oldest luxury knitwear brands in the world, the Pringle of Scotland collaboration fits right in the brand’s ethos. According to H&M’s knitwear designer Holli Parkinson, “We fell completely in love with the brand’s history, from their intimate and modest origins from Hawick, Scotland, to their technical innovation in knitwear.”
When they actually met the whole team at the Pringle’s design office in London, there was one pattern that really stood out, and it was the iconic argyle, which has been part of the Scottish knitwear brand’s DNA since the 1920s.
So, to elevate Pringle’s pattern to the next level, H&M puts a sporty spin to the highland argyles and jacquards. “We are always looking for new ways to express the DNA of our heritage knitwear. And we hope this latest playful, sporty take on our famous argyle and fair isle knitwear will delight our existing customers, as well as reach a worldwide audience via H&M,” Pringle of Scotland’s Brand Director Katy Wallace shared.
The key pieces of the collection include a sweater that boasts a patchwork of tone and texture, splicing a retro-inspired diamond pattern with heavy ribbed wool, and a cropped, funnel-necked jumper with balloon sleeves. Traditional yarns are infused with attitudinal appeal in a series of generously oversized, raw-edged sweaters.
To keep the whole capsule evocative of athleisure, there are also sweater dresses with ring-pull zip closures, cozy hoodies, second-skin leggings, as well as hats and scarves that are all printed with athletic logos.
“We have re-worked the iconic argyles and jacquards to incorporate a youthful and sporty touch and I’m proud that we have managed to employ a range of recycled polyesters, wools and organic cotton,” H&M’s Head of Design Maria Östblom said.
However, the best part of this collaborative capsule is its clever use of recycled polyester and organic cotton along with cozy wool and smooth viscose fibers. And, in a playful touch for the dog-lovers, the collection also includes dog sweaters in matching prints and colors. Admit it, who wouldn’t love that?
