Unlike the previous decade, Louis Vuitton leads the charge to a whole new fashion era without flaunting luxury logos.
Everything is changing, including the fashion industry that is trying its best to survive unprecedented economic meltdowns. In fact, several fashion houses have started to shift their business models already, choosing to push back new releases or venturing further into sustainability and lifestyle. But as for Louis Vuitton, it seems like the French maison just can’t be slowed down, having just released a new collection. This time, the luxury label bids farewell to its screaming logomania trend.
Now, it’s only been a week since the brand announced the appointment of ex-Mulberry creative director, Johnny Coca, as its women’s fashion leather goods director, but just before the Spanish designer tweaks and amps up all our beloved Speedies, Twists, and many more, the brand’s womenswear creative director Nicolas Ghesquière has unveiled the newest addition to Louis Vuitton’s 150-year history of innovative leather goods, the LV Pont 9.
With the market is becoming more and more conscious and discerning of their purchases, buying luxury goods with screaming logos wouldn’t be anyone’s best bet. Come to think of it, aren’t we all sick and tired of the unending logos being flaunted everywhere, whether you’re walking down the street or scrolling through social media? So, Ghesquière made it a point that the newest addition in Louis Vuitton’s 150-year history of innovative leather goods is the bag that’s perfect for the minimalist chic lover.
According to the brand, “the shoulder bag is the latest embodiment of effortless Parisian chic and a new symbol of its ongoing commitment to exquisite craftsmanship.” Its design draws its interesting name from Paris’ iconic Pont Neuf, the oldest and most celebrated bridge across river Seine that sits opposite Louis Vuitton’s headquarters.
The bag’s refined, rounded design is brought to life in smooth, lightly padded calfskin. The sleek interior features a smart design with two compartments and practical pockets. And speaking of practicality, careful attention to detail is revealed in both the bag’s gusseted construction that adds both structure and extra space.
Now, since Louis Vuitton is known for celebrating its own heritage and classic aesthetic, the real pièce de résistance of the bag would undoubtedly be the round buckle on the front flap serving as a closure. It is a 1930s archive logo that was reinterpreted by Ghesquière himself.
Recently, a handful of celebrities were seen already toting the newest It-bag by the storied fashion house. We’ve spotted Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner wearing the soft and dreamy bleu orage version. Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft, Alicia Vikander, showed us her love for the deep sunset-like summer gold hue. And finally, Chloë Grace Moretz who made sure to stick with the ever classic elegance of noir.
