It’s not every day that brands would dedicate designs that respond to the needs of people with disability. Dressing up is an everyday challenge for them. Clothes with buttons, zippers, and laces are not go-to everyday wear. But Tommy Hilfiger challenges the fashion industry’s usual. The American clothing brand becomes more inclusive to the persons with disability through Tommy Adaptive.
“The democratization of fashion is one of the core values the brand was founded on,” Tommy Hilfiger said in a press release. Since 2016, the brand has been active in creating more inclusive designs for persons with disability. The brand started the Adaptive clothing line for children. And in 2017, Tommy Hilfiger released Adaptive for men and women.
Tommy Hilfiger’s campaign for this season called “Independence” celebrates differences, and embraces what makes every individual unique.

The collection includes shirts with Easy Open Necklines, created with magnetic and hook-and-loop fasteners, as well as shirts with Easy-Back openings.
Tommy Hilfiger also created hoodies with one-handed zippers, jackets with magnetic buttons, jeans with wide-leg openings that accommodate leg braces, orthotics, and casts. They also designed skirts, shorts, and jeans with a magnetic hook-&-look fly that replaced the traditional buttons and zippers in these bottoms.
The collection is now available on the Tommy Adaptive website.
