PURPLE
Following a verdant 2017, 2018 is being dominated by the fiercely regal shade of Ultra Violet and designers surely got the memo as they joined in the royal bandwagon—bringing out the dominant hue in various shades and silhouettes. Anthony Ramirez set the tone with a bright tulle gown, Jaz Cerezo took a grungier route with dark sequin dresses, Martin Bautista and Cheetah Rivera went for the path of feminine fun looks with diaphanous pieces in amethyst and magenta. Saving the best for last, Veejay Floresca went in full force with gem-toned purples juxtaposed with high shine fabrics and clean-cut shapes.
PLEATS
It was all in the details as a couple of designers made a case for careful pleats in delicate contours. Cheetah Rivera dove in loaded with casual chic ensembles in fruit basket hues paired with minimalist graphic illustrations on tops and dresses while Rob Ortega and Steph Tan gave us precision with small pleating in menswear pieces and couture-worthy monochromatic combinations respectively.
EMBELLISHMENTS
Pizzazz as we call it, the night was filled with shine and sparkle as spectators were given a redefinition of craftiness in the form of meticulous embellishments. Starting off strong with his Harlem Renaissance-inspired collection, Rosbert Villar was in neutral territory armed with studded pearls executed through fine tailoring and couture-inspired craftsmanship. Martin Bautista approached a modernist royal flair with ruffles and reflective appliques that perfectly complemented his holographic threads. Jaz Cerezo gave us elevated club wear with sensuous silhouettes and shimmery netting. Meanwhile back to the stream of couture, Rob Ortega and Veejay Floresca unleashed full sparkle fusing power dressing and the perfect amount of glamor.
