Transcending the Past and Present: Cartier Reinvents the Tank Française

By

More than a quarter of a century after it’s creation, the Tank Française proves to be an everlasting statement of elegance in this resurgence

The relaunch of the Tank Française just proves how its design transcends time. As a timepiece that commands respect through its classic beauty and outstanding functionality, the Tank has been a ground-breaking line of products from Cartier since its creation in 1917. The Tank  Française may be the youngest in its family, but it’s in an entire league of its own, all the while still carrying the spirit of France, and the unfading elegance of Cartier.

More than 25 years after its launch in 1996, the Tank Française has always stood out from the rest of the Tank watches since day one. Being the first with an integrated metal bracelet, the design demonstrates how it was able to withstand the test of time. The simple sophistication, coupled with the mysterious allure of it being neither masculine nor feminine, simply adds to the certain sense of je ne sais quoi it emanates. A sweet mix of modern flair and vintage luxury, this timepiece continues to be a showstopper even after decades of its creation.

The Tank Française is available in small, medium, and large, with or without diamonds.

Small yet significant changes were made to the watch while still remaining faithful to the clean silhouette the Tank is known for. The reimagined Tank Française bracelet features a more rounded version of the previous brancards—the sides that frame the dial that shift to become the lugs of the watch. The crown is now also inlaid to match the brancards. Additionally, the new versions of the watch now display mainly satin finishes that give it a contemporary look.

By making sure that the watch is truly ergonomic and will sit comfortably on any wrist, the bracelet forms a flexible chain that moves as one for a seamless fit. The modifications may seem to appear simple, but the subtle shifts prove to be substantial in making the timepiece more refined and elevated, design-wise and comfort-wise.

There’s no denying that the world is now so much different from the time the Tank Française was created, but it’s no secret how its beauty still persists today. After all, seasons may change, but true elegance remains forever.

Cartier is located at Greenbelt 4, Solaire Resorts and Casino, and Rustan’s Shangri-La PLaza. For more information, you may visit their website.
