Turn Up The Heat In Your Summer Escape With Bold Colors—Chiselled Body Optional

By

Did you think that you could get away another summer season with your usual fail-safe colors? Hold up because we’re not letting you get away with it. Unpack your haphazardly stashed weekender and read through this run-down because we’re about to add colors that will have every eye on you at the beach.

Look, we get it: Men aren’t typically big on colors. It’s daunting, it draws too much attention and well, it can be difficult to match. But that’s the thing, will the modern man be forever stuck with the rigors of archaic hyper-masculine rules?

The summer is the perfect time to let your guard down and have the most fun, even in the fashion department. Sure, there is less room to play around, what with the stifling heat requiring a bare minimum in clothing. But that doesn’t mean one will have to slip out of the cabana in the prescribed graffiti-printed below-the-knee boardshorts or heaven forbid, sportswear jersey shorts. Take your well-deserved time out from a forgettable selection of neutrals to a memorable mix of colors by taking your cues from Joseph Marco, Ivan Dorschner and Dominic Roque.

If colors aren’t neccesarily your thing—yet—then we suggest you ease into the bold and vivid mindset by opting for lighter options. Pastels are refreshing, especially at the beach where everything is saturated to an almost blinding level. Seafoam green or a baby blue will look good on most skintones, but if you’re feeling a little off-kilter, then a pink pair will be your best bet.

Putting together colors isn’t rocket science. If this is out of your comfort zone then we suggest you start simple and wear shades that are within the same complementing family. Should you wear an airy orange pair of shorts then it is best if you follow a natural progression and slip on a light yellow shirt for a seamless look that is easy on the eyes.

Now, if you’re into shocking the languid daze of the general seascape then by all means, turn up the volume with a bold color choice. With more and more men warming up to pink, it would be in your best interest to inch further with a look-at-me fuchsia that is well within the color range, but with a dash of courage thrown in.

With the sun shining through and the sea glistening, it is high time you bust your best kept notice-me-red. Live out your Baywatch fantasy by decking yourself in the powerful shade and notice heads turn as you go running up and down the beach. Oh, and did we mention that this looks good with a tan?

Now, this is where the study on colors gets a little tricky. Don’t get intimidated because this is something you can get the hang of faster than you can say sunrise (or sunset). For the more conservative, wear a monochrome for that classic take on colors. Meanwhile, if you’re a lot more adventurous, you can deck yourself out in a pairing that mimics the sunset in orange and yellow, or dusk with blue and orange. Whatever combination you choose, the best way to rock it out is to wear it with confidence because there is nothing more commanding than a man who dares to be different. Even if it is a mere color choice for some. They’re not the ones making head turns or racking up double-taps on social media now are they?
