After its successful collaboration launch last year, Uniqlo and JW Anderson are back at it again with a new summer line. The collection, which is set to launch this Thursday, April 19, will be available in 19 countries including the Philippines. In Manila, the complete lineup will be available in SM Megamall, SM Aura, SM Mall of Asia, and C3 Annex.
The collection is inspired by the Britain’s Brighton Beach, a popular summer destination known for its lively and colorful art, music and shopping scene. JW Anderson celebrated Brighton’s culture through his use of fabrics and his play on fit and functionality. He also highlighted unisex designs that can be mixed and layered—making it easy to style and wear. The designer shared, “In the 2nd collection of the collaboration, I’m looking for this idea of ‘British Summer,’ the idea of being on the Brighton beach. Something which is very lightweight, very airy, with a lot of linen, and cotton that has a 1950’s subcultural movement. With a little bit of ease and something which is quintessential.” He added, “As a Uniqlo customer, I know exactly the quality that the brand gives to its products. I am very proud of the level of execution and the attention to details that we delivered on this new spring/summer collection.”
Striped t-shirts, knit polos, dresses, blouses and flared skirts dominate the collection, as well as details such as ruffles, ribbons and whimsical prints, qualities that are quintessentially so JW Anderson. Wondering what to get? Here are the pieces:
