But the pandemic, like many other things, has different faces and at times, arrives with a gift. For Vania, this notorious season bestowed to her in 2021, a blessing wrapped in the disguise of her newborn twins.
“Apart from that, I’ve given birth to twins in the middle of the pandemic and I see that as a blessing in the midst of it all. Having them gave me a renewed and stronger sense of purpose.”
When asked how she approaches motherhood whilst satisfying her other endeavors, the designer pins her strength to a power she believes is innate in all women.
“I honestly have no step-by-step routine or tricks to share. A woman’s strength is boundless. You realize this when you find yourself doing things you never thought you could. Motherhood in itself is an incredible journey. Leading a whole team and a company is another undertaking in itself, but like many women these days, you can have both a career and a family if you choose to.”
Her passionate view on motherhood and women’s abilities to realize new zeniths continue, “I think our power is in how we are driven by passion and emotion.”
In true fashion of challenging society’s stubborn boundaries, Vania uses her designs to showcase one of the advocacies she firmly stands for and uses that to trailblaze a path for empowered women. With each clean cut, billowing poof of fabric, and feminine silhouette, comes this thoughtful couturier’s desire to hearten women to feel at home in their own skin.
Continuing the conversation of women empowerment, the designer shares pieces of advice that negate life’s often cutthroat mood. “Don’t rush. Do it for yourself. Commit to your dreams. Do what makes you happy. Take it easy.
“You can read books and listen to great podcasts but the best advice you will ever receive is from yourself—the lessons that you learn through the experiences you go through.”
Vania’s evocative take on women empowerment takes the definition and value of “meaningful design” to a whole new level. Romoff and her couture creations are a prime example that women are not bound to the rigid standards set by anterior zeitgeists.
If there’s anything else I’ve picked up from Vania’s words of wisdom it is this: investing in yourself is never in vain. More often than not, it drives you to unexpected paths that lead you to the knowledge that you’re in the right place at the right time; this is where your purpose lies and this is where you’re meant to be.
