ICYMI: UK-based footwear brand Dr. Martens honors punk-rock band Sex Pistols for a limited edition capsule collection.
The rebellious quintet rose to fame in the 70s for their wild and explosive style. With smash hits such as God Save the Queen and Anarchy in the UK, the band’s anarchic attitude and Dr. Martens’ non-conformist stance was a long overdue collaboration, given the two were big influences during that era. Below, we listed four ways to wear combat boots and unleash your inner Sid Vicious or John Rotten inspired by each of the Sex Pistols members themselves.
GET GRAPHIC LIKE SID VICIOUS
Probably punk’s biggest mystery, Sid’s ferocious style favors animal prints and graphic footwear to pair with. (Plus points if you can rock a red leather jacket!)
SAVAGELY STYLISH AS JOHN ROTTEN
The frontman is arguably one of the first who brought the Teddy boy subculture into men’s style, mixing tailored and loose pieces all at once and injecting the right amount of rock n’ roll with classic combat boots.
DEVOTEDLY DEFIANT LIKE STEVE JONES
Known for his over-exuberance, the band’s guitar hero keeps graphic shirts on full rotation, adding pins to his jackets and a subtle graphic touch with printed shoelaces.
BRUTALLY BALEFUL AS PAUL COOK
Often spotted in a Sherpa jacket or fuzzy sweater, the drummer’s cozy style allows him to move freely, keeping the rest of his outfit polished with stacked brogues.
The Dr. Martens x Sex Pistols collection is available in all Metro Manila branches, located in SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia, Greenbelt 5, Glorietta 4 and Two Parkade.
