Where to Get Fit Beyond the Gym for 2025

Where to Get Fit Beyond the Gym for 2025

By

Did you know that getting fit isn’t limited to the gym or running clubs? Here are some classes you could take for a fitter and better you

Subscribing to a gym is a huge commitment—one that you’re not sure you’ll be able to maximize. To some, the gym is an intimidating place, and if you don’t get a trainer, it’s a bit difficult to figure out where or how to start. The fitness community is a sweet and supportive group of people who were in your position once, and they are more than willing to help you be your fitter and better self, which isn’t limited to the gym! To commit to that 2025 resolution, here are some fitness classes you could try:

Indoor Cycling

Also known as spinning, indoor cycling targets endurance, strength, intervals, and recovery in a stationary exercise bicycle. Contrary to popular belief, they are more than a leg workout. Focusing mostly on cardio, indoor cycling involves not just turning the pedals, but also switching from various movements that will elevate your heartbeat, make you sweat, and lose a ton of calories. Typically in a group class setting, you’ll most likely meet a lot of new people every session and hopefully form friendships with the people you’re regularly in class with!

Dance Fitness

Repeat after me: you don’t need to be good at dancing to take dance classes, and dance classes aren’t all choreography classes! Unlike choreography classes, dance fitness focuses more on the workout and the fun of doing the workout. They don’t have to be Zumba, also. Many dance fitness classes today have incorporated K-Pop, P-Pop, and the latest hits into their playlists, including varying genres and styles to cater to all kinds of people.

Pilates

If you’re looking for something a bit more intense, look no further than Pilates, which utilizes several repetitive moments that focus on developing your core stability, flexibility, strength, muscle control, and breathing. Considered a “mind-body exercise,” Pilates has some similarities with yoga as both emphasize the importance of the mind and breathing and its coordination with the body. This form of exercise has continuously evolved, offering many variations from mat Pilates, reformer Pilates, to Lagree, which involve reformer and megaformer machines, and each being even more challenging.

Sports Clubs

It’s never too late to go back to a sport or learn a new one! Engaging in fun sports with your friends is a great way to lose some calories and catch up with friends—or even former teammates. Maybe introduce yourselves to a new sport this 2025. Each sport has different pros, it’s just up to you which one you’ll commit to. From badminton, tennis, and padel to stunting clinics and cheer camps, the magic of sports isn’t just the workout that happens, but the skills and techniques you learn and the frustrating love-hate (but more love) relationship that forms.
