Yassi Pressman is ready to expand her range with a new role—or is it two?
Lately, Yassi Pressman has been meeting Hollywood and NBA personalities here and there—from Simi Liu, Jaden Smith, H.E.R., Winston Duke, to Damian Lillard. The fans are now asking, “Is Yassi making a global debut?” The actress nods to this, but it’s not just about her acting career—it’s also for business. “Maraming naging connection at naging mga nakatrabaho if not through acting, mga through business. And my sister (Issa Pressman), through music din po.”

MEGA Entertainment caught up with Yassi fresh out of a shoot. The actress, donning a Kardashian-esque bodycon mini, shares her new twin role for TV5’s upcoming show, Kurdapya, premiering on March 18. The said situational comedy series is an adaptation of the 1950’s comics with the same name. What made her say yes to the project? The showcasing of her quirky side, which is a nostalgic throwback to her Diary ng Panget stint.
Back-to-back comeback
“The brief of both the characters [is] sobrang interesting po, and challenging, which is fun and sobrang magkaibang-magkaiba ‘yung characters nila,” she shared. Koring and Daphne, her roles, are twins who were separated at birth. The former, according to the thespian beauty, is the kalog and funny counterpart of the pair.
Doing Kurdapya for Yassi is pushing her boundaries and exploring the realms of her comfort zone after her two last projects—the heavy drama Filipino adaptation of the 2019 Korean hit More Than Blue and gameshow Rolling In It Philippines—Yassi mentioned that the comedy is far more challenging for her. “This is my first sitcom! Super exciting, very challenging for me. Ito kasi ‘yung genre na hindi ako komportable, but I am happy we have Direk Easy Ferrer [and] surrounded by very talented comedians,” she explained. “Hindi ko akalain magagawa ko sa TV.”
Project throwback
Yassi, who played one of her monumental television roles as Alyana in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, also responded to Coco’s hint on recasting the actors to Batang Quiapo. “Kung saan po may trabaho, kung ano yung blessings na maibibigay. At least now, nababalance ko na family at time for work. Whatever is going to be good for my mental health. Kung ano ang ibigay ni Lord. Siyempre, kapag tinawag ako, opo.”
