To be clear, you don’t have to necessarily “look better” each time a new year comes around. We’ve all been through so much last year and even the first weeks of January seem dreary with the COVID-19 surge. But for those who use this time to start a clean slate and reclaim old and new goals, a hair transformation is one of the ultimate ways to start it off. Whether it be chopping of your locks to signify that your leaving all excess baggage in the past or a statement hair color to announce that you’re ready to make daring moves, here are the hottest hairstyles our favorite local celebrities are welcoming 2022 in.
Pretty Pastels
The bright, bold hues trend is here to stay and Sarah Lahbati is fully embracing it with a pastel pink lob. A fashion trendsetter, Lahbati easily transitioned to the color since she was blonde beforehand. The trick to achieving this color is to be patient. Since your hair would most likely need to be pale yellow for the color to appear, bleaching your stands gradually will lessen hair damage.
High Contrast Tones
After ABS-CBN introduced Janella Salvador as Valentina, the serpent queen and villain in Darna, the actress also debuted an edgy new look to match the role–long dark curls with blond highlights. If you’re scared about going platinum, this is an easy way to try it out without having to fully commit. And because of its contrasting shades, it’s still as head-turning.
Short and Sweet Bob
A go-to hairstyle for breakup season and the new year, going from long to short is liberating. Not only does it give you an automatic lighter feel but it’s also low maintenance. It’s a great cut for those who want to achieve their natural texture since it looks best with messy and tousled up strands.
Classic Bangs
Can Sunshine Cruz look any younger? Apparently yes with the right hairdo! Going for a chic and classic style, the actress and mom debuted a sharp jaw-length bob with full bangs. Take note that a blunt bob with full bangs is ideal for someone with thinner hair since it will be framing most of your face.
Daring Mullet
The year 2021 brought back a number of hairstyles that we never thought would be cool again–for example, the mullet. Once was a hairstyling faux pas, today it’s a cut being worn by all the cool kids. One of which is Lauren Reid, who even took it up a notch by adding bangs for a dimensional look. Because the haircut is square it works great on oval and heart-shaped faces.
