5 Celebrities Who Nailed the 2000s Makeup Trend on TikTok

By

The 2000s makeup is booming all over social media. Thanks to TikTok, these celebrities jumped on the trend with their own flair and flavor

The 2000s has been at the core of virality for quite a while now, its influence widespread on fashion, beauty, art, music, television, and culture as a whole. But the early aughts fervor was ignited again in the makeup department—creators all over the world showing off their best Y2K looks to the song 10 minutes by the original it-girl of Korea, Lee HyoRi. We’re talking bright colors, dark lip liners followed by the glossiest of gloss, big and sparkling jewelry, and spiky buns to zigzag parts and hair clips. These Filipino celebrities fell into the Y2K craze and gave it their own unique feel.

Criza Taa

Crowned Queen of Get Ready With Me videos, Criza Taa has always gone viral for her beauty content. Her exploration and variety in producing different looks is a testament to her creativity when it comes to makeup, and her take on the 10 Minutes trend is nothing short of impressive. Netizens even asked her for a tutorial, which she so graciously provided, and listed all that’s needed to recreate it like her: a flawless base, light blue eyeshadow with a blue and white shimmer eyeshadow on top, mascara, minimal lashes, lip liner, and gloss. Her spiky half-up and half-down ponytail and light blue top adds to the allure of her overall look.

Andrea Brilliantes

In this realm of social media, we’re craving all-out glamor, especially of the ostentatious variety. Andrea went the Barbie pink route with low space buns, a choker, and accessories such as oversized shades and big hoop earrings that completed her twist to the trend.

Maris Racal

‘Jolina Magdangal 90s ganda’ was one of the comments in Maris’s video, who was clad in a cropped white top and low-waist jeans. Still following the cool-toned look this trend requires, she put on shimmering pink and gray eyeshadow, lightly smoked-out eyeliner, and nude lips with gloss. Posting the look on Instagram, Maris called herself ‘a Y2K girlie’.

Belle Mariano

If Irene Tiu had her 2000s era, best believe that Caroline is giving the internet her own take—the Tiu sisters are known for never backing down from a challenge. Belle also went to Samsung’s Awesome Summer Fanfest with on-screen partner Donny Pangilinan in this Y2K pink and blue ensemble, sporting the spiky ponytail as well.

Anne Curtis

Asia’s Multimedia Superstar and Showtime host Anne Curtis gave this trend her own flair with the spiky bun and the beautiful pops of color on her face. Netizens are calling her the ‘Philippine it girl’ after Jolina Magdangal, who ruled the 90s and early 2000s in the local entertainment scene.
