It was often thought that in order for a woman to climb up the ranks of power, she ought to emulate men. While this method no doubt works, Dr. Aivee Teo is a prime example that a woman can achieve success all on her own. “I think the challenge women are facing today is equality, to be equal with men in terms of opportunities and responsibilities. I think we should empower women and actually push women to fight for their rights, and to be confident that they can do it, or they can even do better than men,” she says passionately. For her, once a woman believes and embodies her strength and capabilities, nothing is impossible. “When a woman is empowered, she’s able to tackle any responsibilities and challenges that come her way because she is confident in showcasing her full potential.” It’s this same philosophy that makes her status as one of the country’s top beauty innovators.

Responsible for a coterie of glowing faces, Aivee is also proud of having built a beauty empire committed to serving the Filipino people with the best quality services in aesthetics and health. When the pandemic hit, she didn’t only focus on the sales and numbers of her clinic, but she showed responsible leadership by quickly adapting and prioritizing the safety and welfare of both of her patients and associates. She is also constantly seeking ways to thread health and empowerment with beauty. One example would be Aivee Clinic’s “Beauty Beyond Borders“, a foundation committed to building the confidence and changing the lives of underprivileged people who need to undergo dermatological procedures. This includes regular medical missions in several barangays where they provide consultations and perform minor aesthetic and orthopedic surgeries alongside emergency procedures. All this she successfully does whiling balancing her many roles, from being a dermatologist, businesswoman, to being a hands-on mom.

When it comes to the connection to beauty and power, Aivee is a firm believer that a woman doesn’t have to choose from one or the other. That is what she ultimately sees in the future, where a woman’s crowning glory can be both her hair and her career. “There are a lot of women leaders in the world today. Whether it be in politics, science, arts, literature, or any career that the person they want to pursue. I think there are opportunities for women out there and we should not be afraid to be the best version of ourselves.”
