With BYS Fashion Week in full swing, MEGA continues to bring you exclusive beauty details fresh from the runway

BYS Fashion Week is always bound to bring a renewed sense of play to the runway, and the second installment was no exception. One can’t miss it: Neric Beltran’s Forever After collection, for example, introduced a new era of wedding ensembles. Meanwhile, Chris Nick’s Fall/Winter 2023 presentation is all about sex, glamour, and disco — an eclectic mix of sexiness and elegance. And for those looking for beauty looks that inevitably raise standards, BYS certainly showcased a wealth of inspiration.

The inspirations certainly came from opposite ends of the beauty spectrum. Backstage at Neric Beltran, the direction references the appeal of the bridal glow. As for the brief? The signature ethereal radiant complexions and delicate pastels. In stark contrast, Chris Nick sent out beauty looks that were more in line with his brand code. Think smoky eyes, hair tendrils, and nude lips. Moreover, the second installment certainly balanced out the creative escapism from the previous shows.

From the signature bridal brush to cinematic smoky eyes, beauty is undeniably defined by the elevated classics. Here, we give you top five beauty trends as seen on the BYS Fashion Week day two runway.

The signature bridal glow

If there’s one thing everyone knows about any bridal moment is that looking luminous is essential — a beauty code that defined Neric Beltran’s BYS Fashion Week 2023 collection. The skin was certainly far more lustrous with its finish that was radiant enough to meet the dew-strewn days. Meanwhile, the faintest satin pink shade glows on cheeks and the tips of noses to echo the look of love. As for the lips? Palettes of pink, peach, and nudes glistened with nothing more than a coat of a gloss.

A play on subtle color

Though Beltran’s beauty direction skewed to somewhat pared down to nothing, eye makeup still demands a second look. That means toned-down brows, subtle smoky lids, and black mascara swished at the root of the lashes. Effectively, it’s a subtle look that is marked by something other — one that elevates all parts of the whole. And for those who are asking: lids are definitely shimmer-free. “Yes, the luminous skin is there. But for this show, all focus is on a matte palette,” makeup artist Kim Roy Opog, exclusively shared.

Focus is on the eyes

The brief for Chris Nick’s Fall/Winter 2023’s beauty look? Sultry smoky eyes. The vision was brought to life by makeup artists like Vince Leendon, who applied layers of matte blacks and browns to craft the perfect gradient on the lids. Pro Tip: Create a perfect base by using a concealer as an eye primer. “Once accomplished, set it with a translucent powdered,” he detailed. “This process helps blend the color even more. Hindi siya magiging patchy.”

A supermodel favorite

Chris Nick certainly called for a new beauty notion: it’s time to place straightened wisps of hair at the front. His BYS Fashion Week 2023 presentation showcase supplied new ways to wear loose chignons and face-framing tendrils — a hair direction that complements his sexy-meets-glamor motif. And if that is not enough sign, take cues from muses like Max Collins, Coleen Garcia, Pam Prinster, and Sofia Andres who wore the signature style on the runway.

The runway lip favorite

Conversely, the lip palette for Chris Nick and Neric Beltran’s showcases is an underscore — but in a fabulous manner. It doesn’t demand attention. Yet it completes a look. Hues that are close to a natural lip color, in all its different forms, are quite quintessential in the runways. But it comes as no surprise that it is having its resurgence. After all, with the rise of a more expressive approach to makeup, a slash of a my-lips-but-better lipstick shade is enough to balance out the entire look.
