It is undeniable that the actress has led the charge in dramas in her generation up to now.

A star from the start

Bea Alonzo

In an interview with Jerald Napoles and Kim Molina in a podcast titled The Comfort Room, Bea Alonzo shared that she knew at a very young age that she was destined to be an actress. From reenacting Judy Ann Santos in front of the mirror as a kid to consciously training herself with skills like swimming, using chopsticks, and crying on cue—Bea did all these things as she was already preparing herself for her future roles. She openly expressed how she set herself to conquer the entertainment industry, affirming her place as one of the biggest stars in the industry.

During the actress’ transition as a Kapuso, she also marked her two decade–long career. Since she entered this chapter in a new network, Bea still embodies the spirit for adventure, passion for her craft, and so much more.

“I would always say hindi lang isa ‘yung peak mo. ‘Yung buhay mo consists of different peaks.”

The leading lady’s history

Bea Alonzo with Dimples Romana

Considering Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay as the first peak of her career, the actress revealed that this TV series was unexpected as the lead role was originally meant for Dimples Romana. Dimples had to be replaced due to her pregnancy, which led to Bea’s change in role. From initially being casted as a sister to Rica Peralejo’s character, it was such a surreal moment to hear that this was the start of her journey in cementing herself as the accomplished actress that she is today.

Further in the interview, Bea was asked if she sees One More Chance as her greatest opportunity of a lifetime. Bea answered that it may be, sharing that she believes that there is no such thing as a single peak in one’s career. For her, life in general encompasses different highs and lows. By acknowledging the distinct heights in life, people will strive harder every after a successful era.

Looking back on the birth of her character as Basha and her blockbuster team-up with John Lloyd Cruz, Bea’s face was lit up during the podcast episode. She shares that the making of One More Chance started as a pitch and was inspired by Jenifer Aniston’s The Break Up. She remembered Director Cathy Garcia-Molina, together with the writers Vanessa R. Valdez and Carmi Raymundo, including the entire cast in the brainstorming process, leading them to the impeccable success of the film.

The Bea Alonzo she is today

Reflecting on her roots, just like any star in the making, Bea also had a fair share of mistakes as a newbie. And working with kind and generous veteran actors helped her to be better. Also, having her mom as her honest critic encourages her to remain grounded amidst stardom.

According to the actress, she never felt the persona of a superstar in the span of her career. She was never concerned about this status as she wants her performance to always speak for itself.
