Moving like water and going strength-to-strength in business, what else can this woman not do? To that, Bea responds with a show of many other things up her sleeve—one being an advocate. Passionate about the planet, Soriano, along with her brilliant women-dominated workforce, has spent most of 2020 with the goal of migrating their product lines to more sustainable packaging by the first quarter of 2022. To cement their commitment to more earth-friendly practices, Sunnies has partnered with organizations who help reach their goal. In a grander scheme of things, their collaboration with the specific NGO puts water filters in places that don’t have access to clean water.
“One advocacy that is really close to my heart is what Sunnies is doing right now. We’re partnering with Waves for Water via 1% for the Planet. Being in the retail space, we can’t deny that we do contribute to waste and harming the planet. As a company, we really strive to be more responsible towards that. So, we’ve already started to migrate from virgin plastics or acetate to bio-based acetates or recycled plastic.”
Bea also champions women empowerment through several platforms—whether it be on a personal level or in communities. For the former, it’s quite simple: she is a modern empowered woman. With the latter, Soriano is an example and spokesperson for micro women entrepreneurs by means of Go Negosyo.
What I noticed when a woman who lives in the house is a woman entrepreneur, it helps the family over all,” she shared empathetically.
“When someone asks me what my idea of an empowered woman is, I always think about my daughter. How am I going to tell her what women empowerment is?
She concludes her thoughts with a rhetorical question, “Because if you don’t believe in yourself, who else will believe in you?”
Looking back, Bea’s disposition or character cannot be described as pretentious nor overzealous. Instead, she hits the right balance—calm and collected and moving gracefully like water.
Soriano’s tale of traversing the pandemic and emerging stronger, wiser, and more powerful is not just a personal win but a triumph shared by all women entrepreneurs alike. Her demonstrated ability to innovate, points to not only having a perceptive outlook of her target market but also exploring what stewardship is all about. Because in truth, when the going gets tough, whether in business or in life, sometimes the best tactic is to look at what is in your hands. It’s barely about having ideas that are out of the box, but mostly knowing what to do with what you have. When you’re fully aware of what you possess, then growth, innovation, and clean wins effortlessly follow. Bea did exactly this and she won BIG, and her burgeoning victory is beyond what we can possibly imagine.
