Here’s a fact: There’s nothing else more we want than to hear Taylor Swift sing her old songs again, right? But apparently, she’s currently banned to do so and now, she’s asking for help.
For the artist who has recorded some of the greatest hits of her generation, she has found the perfect occasion to finally perform a medley of her hits. Just the sound of her singing her old songs already fills us up with a swell of huge excitement, because seriously, when was the last time this sort of thing happens?
In this year’s American Music Awards, Taylor Swift will be honored with the Artist of the Decade Award. However, her plan to sing her old songs on the show might not happen as she’s prohibited by Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun. Taylor Swift spilled in an abrupt announcement about Netflix’s documentary centered on her life for the past years, which might fail to feature some of her old performances. While this is causing tremendous attention online and is continuously provoking Swifties from all over the world, #IStandWithTaylor has understandably hit the worldwide trend.
On a lighter note, yet still largely complicating things, Scott and Scooter will allow Taylor Swift to use her own music if she complies with what what they want. If Taylor agrees to not re-record master versions of her songs the following year and stops talking about Scott and Scooter, only then they will let Taylor sing her own songs.
Part of Taylor’s tweet meant throwing a shade to her former label. “Basically, be a good little girl and shut up. Or you’ll be punished,” shares Taylor. Nevertheless, it was also to show concern for other artists who shouldn’t have to go through the same confinement. Taylor knows how these men have absolutely no right to own any of her songs in any way, yet they lay claim to it, and there she mentions The Carlyle Group who puts up money for the sale of her music.
“I’m hoping that maybe they can talk some sense into the men who are exercising tyrannical control over someone who just wants to play the music she wrote,” adds Taylor. It is almost like gospel to know that Taylor Swift writes her own music, all of which come from her heart with an utmost earnest intention of sharing her passion and expressing herself to the world over. While all she wants is to perform her own music, she’s got nothing but a big question mark with her plans now.
Fans would definitely want the best of both worlds—to hear Taylor sing her old songs and re-record it, as well. I mean, who else should own her music but her, right? So, are you one with Taylor Swift on this?
