Describing the collection as “a love letter to all women and a celebration of their incomparable strength,” Riccardo Tisci, Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer presents his Autumn/Winter 2021 womenswear collection as a homage to women, most especially his mother. “Throughout my life, my mother has been this incredible force of nature.”
“As a single parent, she raised me and my eight sisters with unfaltering purpose and pride.” Tisci said in a press release. “So, naturally, I have always been drawn to strong women and, in turn, they have also given me the confidence to express my own femininity. They are not afraid to challenge expectations and I have always been in such awe of their determination. They are warriors.”
An ode to femininity and womanhood, Tisci’s first womenswear collection for Burberry aims to go against feminine stereotypes that have been set in the fashion industry. The presentation also captures fluidity, and intends to inspire self expression.
Launched at Burberry’s flagship Regent Street store in London, the show commenced with an original spoken-word piece by British artist Shygirl. Capturing the eccentricity of Burberry and the modern woman, the presentation was accompanied by an electronic soundtrack produced and mixed by Ville Haimala, as the models strutted on the runway in their Burberry ensembles.
Truly an ode to modern femininity, Tisci’s Burberry Autumn/Winter 2021 Collection presents what a true modern woman is.
