The former Miss Universe Philippines, Celeste Cortesi, proves why the classics can never go out of style with her black and white gown for the Miss Universe Philippines preliminaries
Just last January, Celeste Cortesi ended her reign as Miss Universe Philippines, but she made one more appearance at the preliminary round to wish good luck to this year’s roster of candidates. And in a true queen-like manner, Celeste Cortesi proves how one can never go wrong with a classic style as she arrived in a gorgeous black and white gown.

The piece was designed by Filipino designer Anthony Ramirez, who is known for his versatility in his creations. This time around, he decided to keep his design clean yet timeless by opting to withdraw from incorporating embellishments and embroidery.
Celeste’s gown takes us back to the 50s as the bodice was kept sleek with a black velvet material that had a sultry plunge on the square neckline, even showing off her tattoo. Instead of the usual cut, Anthony opted to go for a drop waist that perfectly accentuated the figure of the former Miss Universe Philippines—giving her look an effortless sense of glamour.
To balance off the sleek bodice, the skirt featured various drapings to add dimension. As seen on both sides of the seams, delicate folds created a billowy form, but not too much to take away Celeste’s figure. And to be up to par with her go-to alluring fashion, a high slit just by the drapes was also included.
She then completed her look with a matching set of Jewelmer accessories. A diamond and gold metal finish was done on her necklace, which held a golden South Sea pearl just by the center, while her earrings were kept simple with a matching pearl.
