Miranda jumped into our conversation with a personal story, tracing the roots of his motorcycle passion back to childhood memories with his dad. At the age of four or five, he would wander alongside his father, gripping the motorcycle handle with guidance. “Every time susunduin niya ‘yung nanay ko, sumasama ako kasi ganoon na naman ang aking gagawin,” he recounts. The big moment came at 14, when he took drove a manual motorcycle for the first time. The initial excitement was undercut by fear when the engine stalled, prompting a struggle to reignite it, but he shares that thankfully, a helping hand from a tricycle driver saved the day. It might not have been a flawless ride, but for the actor, it was a lesson in resilience on the road.

Reflecting on his modest beginnings and down-to-earth demeanor, he recalls the joy of acquiring his very first dirt bike, a Honda CRF150L. He beams as he reveals that he hadn’t fully paid for it initially, putting in extra effort on his showbiz projects to settle the balance. With the words, “Gamit ko siya sa lahat halos ng naging unang trabaho ko sa showbiz at ‘yun ang nagsilbing service ko kapag around Metro Manila ang shooting,” he opens up about how it was like having a companion when he was starting out. Miranda also mentions how, in those early riding days, the safety advice and tips from his dad and relatives echoed in his mind every time he hit the road.

At the moment, the Kapuso star has a solid lineup of four motorcycles. First up is his trusty CRF150L, still in the picture but now cruising under his dad’s control. Then there’s the Yamaha Serow 225 (1995), a ride he snagged while working on a movie. He says that he had to convince the owner to let him buy the bike, which was originally just meant for the film. The third in the pack is the Triumph Scrambler XE 1200, Miranda’s ultimate dream machine. With a big grin, he proudly declares it as the one bike he treated himself to—a dream come true, as he puts it. And rounding off the collection is the Honda CB400 PB1 (1995), a classic ride that he didn’t tinker with because he instantly fell in love with its timeless look.

When asked what satisfies him about motorcycles, Miranda straightforwardly shares that it’s the feeling of freedom that brings him joy every time he hops on his bike. “Kahit saan, pwede kang makadaan at may bagong discoveries sa mga kalsada na hindi mo nakikita kapag nakasakay ka sa apat na gulong,” he explains. Moreover, he points out that this passion has instilled in him the importance of discipline, be it on the road or in life as a whole.

Miranda lets us in on his motorcycle wish list, currently counting nine rides that have piqued his interest. Among them are the Triumph Scrambler, Yamaha Tenere, Honda ADV 750, Harley Davidson Sportster, Harley Davidson Softail, Harley Davidson Fatboy, Royal Alloy TG300S, BMW Welly R18, and the Honda CB1100, all fueling his anticipation for future adventures on the road.
