For SHEIN’s 13th birthday, the global retail brand decided to launch their Global Design Incubator Program, SHEIN X. This time around they’re putting their own spin to the program by featuring international talents from all over the world. Yes, that means the Philippines too. In the SHEIN X program, the’ve included 5 Filipino designers with different aesthetics. These designers will have to create one collection each to be produced for all of SHEIN’s 7 million users to purchase. Despite having different styles, all the designers have one thing in common: they’re all feature proudly Pinoy garments. Each designer made sure to incorporate a part of their background into their collections, which makes them all the more personal. Find out who these five designers are by reading on.
Candle Ray Torreverde
This designer started his brand in 2016. His label stands for functional clothing that combines precision and strength with subtle sensibility. The SHEIN X Candle Ray collection offers men’s and women’s clothing that takes inspiration from architectural geometry that suggests power and authority. SHEIN X Candle Ray was launched in August 2021.
Abigail Mercado
Filipino fashion designer, Abimer, is known for her sexy yet sophisticated pieces. Her designs in the SHEIN X Abimer collection launched in September and are inspired by Victorian lingerie and infused with modern techniques to showcase every woman’s best assets.
Raya Aleczandra
This young designer has always wanted to be in the fashion industry. She launched her career with SHEIN in September. Their first project is the SHEIN X Raya collection, which showcases her distinct artistry in her womenswear with a range of designs that reflect her ongoing creative journey.
Kimble Quinto
This designer has always been curious and fascinated with fashion. This led her to pursue international studies in fashion. Her brand, KIMBLE, is about the representation of empowerment through a woman’s clothing. The SHEIN X KIMBLE collection, scheduled to debut on the SHEIN app and website in October, showcases a play on textures through different manipulations and a mix of elegant silhouettes.
Pamela Madlangbayan
This designer began creating clothing to channel the collective experiences of mental struggle during the pandemic. She wanted to make turn the hurdles in her life into something artistic and empowering. The pieces in the SHEIN X Pamela collection take influence from musical artists to create fun, fearless, and fabulous pieces that make the wearer feel like a pop star in their own right.
