Here’s how BGYO, BINI, Alamat, G22, and SB19 proved that Pinoy pride is also screaming loud and proud in their stage styles

The truth is, style goes beyond its aesthetic appeal in making the audience marvel at the artists’ looks on stage. For the performers, wearing something that brings both comfort and confidence can easily be the missing piece to their standout performance. And in this year’s PPOPCON Manila 2023, we marveled at not just at the numbers of each group, but as well as what they wore that night.

MEGA Entertainment is giving you a roundup of the ensembles that were proudly made and conceptualized by Filipino creatives for your favorite groups. Here’s a breakdown of how BGYO, BINI, Alamat, G22, and SB19 married fashion and performance art—the Pinoy pride way.

Acing the suit department

Setting the stage on fire, BGYO went for a statement look with their red and black ensembles with varied fabrics and embellishments. Highlighting their movements were their tweed jackets with pearls and paillettes from Neric Beltran and silk innerwear from Blackcode Manila. According to their stylist Aaron Mangsat, the outfit of the group was a collaboration between him and the boys. “They wanted na red ‘yung jacket because it’s the color of their fandom. We also incorporated din sa back design ‘yung spade symbol as an ode to their fans, the ACEs.”

Making bold waves

Hailed as the nation’s girl group, BINI sported a light blue sheen ensemble that seemingly resembled the country’s seas. Conceptualized by visual director Ica Villanueva, the Marian Zara creations were elevated by custom breastplates from Rocket Design Studio, as well as some silver studs that complemented the light fabric.

Repping real hard

Alamat always makes sure to incorporate Filipino signs and symbols even in the simplest of details, and their PPOPCON outfits are no exception. Director Jason Paul Laxamana shared that the group’s outfits incorporated their latest single, “Day and Night.” Stylist Bettina Banez further explained on Twitter that the day outfits were Russell Villafuerte modern barongs with embroidered designs of the boys’ hometowns.

Meanwhile, Bettina and Nina Amoncio worked together for the blue suits of the group with Cotabato City’s inaul accents and constellation-like crystal detailing.

Rocking the alpha style

G22 dominated the PPOPCON stage not just with their powerful grooves and vocals, but also with the unique outfits for each member. While sparkle and shimmer were the common elements of their looks, Alfea, Bianca, Jaz, and AJ went for their individual fashion sense courtesy of their stylist Mark Ranque. Truly, female power comes in different forms!

Reigning with pride

Ending the concert with a bang, SB19 veered from the expected bling on a concert stage look. Stylist Rain Dagala pointed out the meaning behind the earth tones for the quintet. “We wanted something classic, sophisticated, and non-distracting. Shades of nudes and brown feel rich, luxurious, and fresh when combined together.” Incorporating the branding of the Pagtatag Era, designer Neric Beltran was able to design distinct creations for Stell, Josh, Felip, Justin, and Pablo based on their personal style.
