Gone are the days of meet-cutes. Step into the future of dating apps with the Gen Z way of finding love online

It’s been more than two years since the pandemic and if you came into it single, then you probably still are. Think about it—how could you possibly meet potential partners during a time like this? It’s a weird time to be dating, but we singles can’t wait forever. We, too, need a little love in our lives. Although, the game of love is a little harder than where we left off in 2019. Well, what can you expect after the rise of TikTok and the Gen Z takeover? Now, many singles are looking to adapt with the times by dating in the digital space.

There are many dating apps in the market you can check out. You have the ever-so-famous Tinder and Bumble while you also have dating websites, such as OkCupid, eHarmony, and Mask. Although, we did hear about a new dating app on the rise, which a few Gen Z singles in the Philippines are switching to—the app is called Hinge

According to 24-year old Filipina Hinge user Alexi, she uses the app for the match quality and filtration system—no more endless scrolling and meaningless chats. In short, it was designed to be deleted. If you’re wondering how they find quality matches, Hinge uses an acclaimed Nobel Prize-winning algorithm.

It’s safe to say that more Gen Z singles are looking for serious romantic relationships. Gone are the days of meet cutes, but we can also bid adieu to glamorizing toxic hookups. According to The Future of Relationships & Weddings Study released by The Knot earlier this year, older members of the Gen Z generation a.k.a. GenZennials are all about creating a stable environment for settling down since most of the respondents are keen on building serious relationships after achieving financial independence.

That’s why Hinge is so different from all the other dating apps on the market. They are adamant on keeping the platform for serious exchanges, as opposed to casual hookups. They don’t have any gimmicks where one person has to speak before the other. Instead, they have a simple platform with many features in getting you to relate with the person you’re talking to before moving out of the app. These features include personality quizzes, voice messages, and an intensive location system. So, what are you waiting for? Are you ready to find the one?
