Amplifying the thrill surrounding Filipino talents featured at the Asia Artist Awards, HORI7ON prepares to take the stage. Before their much-anticipated performance, the Filipino boy group sits down for an exclusive conversation with MEGA Entertainment where they share their sentiments on being chosen for the show, their preparations, and, most importantly, give their fans a taste of what they can look forward to.

Reflecting on their participation in the prestigious award show, group leader Vinci shared, “It’s such an honor for us because we know it is also the first time that a Korean award show is going to [happen] in the Philippines.” Underscoring the significance of representing their home country, he went on to describe the experience as both a dream and an honor. Meanwhile, Kyler expressed heartfelt appreciation for the global fan support: “Nakakataba po talaga ng puso at hindi [po namin] akalain na ‘yung lahat po ng mga fans ay mag-eeffort para i-boto kami para makasali po sa AAA.”

While they are certainly excited to see and meet other Korean groups, HORI7ON said that they are more excited to meet their fellow Filipino artists like SB19 and Ben&Ben. Vinci said that even before he debuted, he has been watching Korean award shows before and he is particularly excited that this time, Filipino talent will also get its well-deserved spotlight.

The group couldn’t contain their happiness when discussing the performance they have in store. Marcus shared their enthusiasm, stating, “We definitely put some spice into it. We made it special for AAA.” While they’re set to perform their original song, the group made it clear that there’s something extraordinary to anticipate. Marcus added, “We don’t want it to be just a normal performance.” Amidst the excitement, HORI7ON revealed a sense of nervousness on their end, with Winston explaining, “Super malaki po talaga ‘yung pressure namin. Gusto po talaga namin ipakita ‘yung talent na mayroon kami and what Filipino talents have to offer.” Recognizing the magnitude of performing in one of the biggest awards shows, especially in front of their fellow Filipinos, the group expressed their determination to deliver their very best.

When asked about their outfit choice for the event, the group opted not to reveal specific details, only confirming that it would be something entirely fresh, elevating their individual styles. But Vinci hinted, “It is something they haven’t seen HORI7ON pull off [yet].”

Marcus’ advice for Filipinos seeking global success

Filipino talents have undeniably made a mark and solidified their presence globally, particularly in the K-Pop scene. Alongside Chanty from Lapillus, another Filipino talent, Sophia Laforteza, is poised to debut with HYBE. When asked for their advice for Filipinos aspiring to be idols, Reyster emphasized, “If mayroon po silang dream, huwag po silang sumuko sa dream nila.” Meanwhile, echoing a similar sentiment but acknowledging the challenging journey ahead, Jeromy advised, “Marami pong mga problems na dadating, pero huwag po kayong susuko.”

Bringing our conversation to a close, the group teased us with exciting prospects. With their presence noted on various school tours in Korea, speculation arose about a potential upcoming project. While not confirming, HORI7ON hinted at more opportunities to engage with fans both physically and virtually. Just before wrapping up, Marcus shared an exciting revelation, saying, “2024 is new music for HORI7ON, so I hope everyone’s excited for that.” Vinci added to the excitement, dropping another clue about a possible early comeback: “A fresh way to start the year.”
