We’re on the second leg of the COVID-19 pandemic. After the distribution of vaccines to civilians this year, the Department of Tourism has decided to revamp the guidelines for domestic travel. Now, some of your favorite vacation spots are open for business to fully vaccinated individuals and domestic tourists. This includes Baguio, Tagaytay, Batangas, La Union, El Nido, Cebu, Boracay, Bohol, and Siargao. Each of the cities have their own travel restrictions and requirements, so it’s best to do your research before heading out. Better yet, check out the information we’ve gathered down below to elevate your next trip out of the city.
Can I travel if I’m not fully vaccinated?
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, People who are fully vaccinated with an FDA-authorized vaccine or a vaccine authorized for emergency use by the World Health Organization can travel safely within the United States and around the Philippines. In the case that you are not fully vaccinated, they recommend that you delay your trip till you receive your last dose. If you need to travel as soon as possible without vaccination, then you need to comply with CDC’s guidelines for unvaccinated people. As per their latest notice, the guidelines are as follows:
Before you travel:
- Get tested with a viral test 1-3 days before your trip.
While you are traveling:
- Wear a mask over your nose and mouth throughout your entire trip.
- Avoid crowds and stay at least 6 feet/2 meters (about 2 arm lengths) from anyone who is not traveling with you.
- Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer (with at least 60% alcohol).
After you travel:
- Get tested with a viral test 3-5 days after travel and stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel.
- If you don’t get tested, stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.
- Avoid being around people who are at increased risk for severe illness for 14 days
- Self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms; isolate and get tested if you develop symptoms.
Boracay

If you’re looking to spend time in Boracay Island, then make sure you have: Negative RT-PCR or saliva test result 3 days prior to travel, Valid ID, Roundtrip plane tickets via Caticlan Airport only, Booking confirmation of accommodation, and S-Pass Travel Coordination Permit.
Palawan
The clear turquoise water in the beautiful beaches of El Nido is the place to be for adventure junkies and thrill seekers. You can explore all the wonderful islands and lagoons through the many programs offered by the locals of Palawan. Plus, if you’re looking for an extravagant getaway, then check in the Sunlight Eco Tourism Island Resort with their famous floating villas.
If you’re looking to spend time in Palawan, then make sure you have: Negative RT-PCR or saliva test result 72 hours prior to travel, Government-issued ID with a permanent address, Roundtrip plane tickets, Booking confirmation of accommodation, Tourist QT ID, and S-Pass registration.
Batangas
Looking for a quick escape? If yes, then Batangas is the place to be. It’s only a few hours away from Metro Manila. Plus, you can get breath taking views of Taal Lake after a day of visiting heritage sites. You can even try your hand at diving by visiting the diver friendly resort, Layag Resort. La Union
It’s time to surf it up in La Union! If you’re looking to stay for good time or a long time, then La Union is the place to be. There are many resorts that now offer a Work From Beach promo. Bohol
Behold all of nature’s wonders by visiting the wonderful island of Bohol. You can dine on a bee farm, trek the chocolate hills, swim with the turtles, and watch fireflies at night. Many celebrities and influencers have visited Amorita Resort in Panglao, Bohol during the pandemic.
If you’re looking to spend time in Bohol, then make sure you have: Negative RT-PCR or saliva test result 3 days prior to travel, Valid ID, Letter of confirmation from the LGU, Pre-booking at DOT-accredited Bohol resorts or hotels, and QR code from your designated bubble in Bohol.
Cebu
The Queen City of the Southern Philippines, Cebu, is just one booking away from being your next travel destination. Aside from the Simala Shrina and Kawasan Falls, you can test our your Visayas by immersing yourself with the local culture.
