Find out what it means to be in your snail girl era and how you can incorporate it into your busy schedule
The girlboss persona was introduced to us a few years back and many of us are at that point in our lives. It’s the intense hustle of building up our career to fully-loading our schedule to ensure we cater to every opportunity that comes our way. While there is nothing wrong with that, there are some who entered a new season in their life that ensures a work lifestyle that doesn’t compromise their physical and mental health. Women are leaving their girlboss era to embrace this so-called, Snail Girl Era.

The cause of unbossing
For those who have been living a lifestyle that consists of a hardcore work-only perspective, you’re probably feeling the weight of tiredness on your shoulders. Burnout has never felt more real, you want nothing more than to take a breather, and you just want to slow down. The idea of overworking is being rejected by both Gen Z and Millennial women as they realize, maybe success isn’t about where I am in my life, but how I see life.
This kind of revelation is what caused the flood of social media content that showcases women in cafes journaling, picnics with friends, to clocking out on time for some me-time. These things might sound normal to some but that is the concept of “unbossing”, to let go of anything related to work and to just appreciate the little things that make you happy.
The downside of snail girl
While there are benefits in embracing your snail girl era, you should be mindful of how far you can take it. Some would often go down the rabbit hole and they’d find themselves in a slump, rather than charging up for energy.
Always keep yourself in-check when slowing down or else you’ll find yourself with a bad pile of backlogs in your work.
The balance of both
There’s a beauty in incorporating a relaxed pace amidst the busy schedule, but one must keep in mind that there should be a balance between the two. Think of it as being self-aware of both career responsibilities and your health.
Set up goals for the day so you can keep track of your progress, this way you’ll avoid overloading yourself with work. As for your physical health, be in-tune with your body and listen to how it warns you from burning out. It’s the same concept for your mental health so that you can avoid the constant stress you get from work. In the end, it’s all about knowing your limits and receiving proper care from yourself.
