Marian and Heart, Kim and Maja, and More On-Screen Reunions We Want to Happen

From Marian and Heart to Kim and Maja, starring together in a new series of film is sweeter the second time around

In any industry, especially in the world of show business, there is always something new—a breaking news, a rising love team, or a collaboration that you didn’t see coming. But the truth is, fresh ideas are actually modern takes of the past. And with yesterday’s breakthroughs serving as our modern sources of inspiration, it only proves that nothing really beats the nostalgia effect. A pairing reunion, especially.

Years ago, we all saw the potential of these Filipino stars who shared the spotlight in film and television. Still brimming with potential to bring their chemistry in another project, here are the tandems we hope to see on the screen once more.

Anne Curtis and Jericho Rosales

Third time will still definitely hold the charm for the two actors who top billed Baler and Green Rose in 2008 and 2011, respectively. If there’s anything that their past projects prove, it’s their openness to tackle a number of genres. Historical romance and a Korean drama adaptation? Done. If they are up for a challenge, an action movie should bring them together again.

Marian Rivera and Heart Evangelista

Their public reconciliation on Instagram this year was indeed breaking news to their followers. The reception to this unexpected interaction should be enough sign to give Heart and Marian their reunion soon after Temptation Island. While most fans expect a Filipino adaptation of The Penthouse starring the two, we want more fun, fashion, and friendship for them. Yes, we want some flamboyant comedy for Marian and Heart!

Julia Montes and Enrique Gil

In 2012, Julia and Enrique played high school lovers in the film, The Reunion. More than a decade later, it’s about time to make their reconnection a real part of their lives. For most of their fans who have now grown up with them, their next movie or series together will surely be nostalgic for everyone, including the actors.

Glaiza De Castro and Rhian Ramos

In a throng of male and female pairings, Glaiza and Rhian stood out as Althea and Jade in the 2015 Kapuso series, The Rich Man’s Daughter. It was considered a breakthrough in teleseryes then for highlighting a relationship between two women while the story tackled the usual telenovela tropes in the country. Because of this, the two built a solid fandom over the years who had their fingers crossed for a sequel to their partnership. Although De Castro and Ramos will be working together again for the Encantadia spin-off Sang’gre, another RaStro project will always be welcome. This time, something related to music will be a good one.

Andrea Brillantes and Kyline Alcantara

From their past roles as Annaliza and Arlene, respectively, Andrea and Kyline are ready for braver and bigger roles now that they are older. Both known to be unapologetically themselves, we are looking forward to seeing them in an empowering narrative on self-love and women empowerment. Both multi-hyphenates in their own right, the possibilities of their reunion are endless.

Kim Chiu and Maja Salvador

There’s no denying that when Kim and Maja played Celyn and Margaux on Ina, Kapatid, Anak, their head-to-head confrontations were always something to look forward to. With their relationship going through its phases as they’ve matured, it won’t hurt to unite them at the right time. Years of friendship build a different kind of chemistry you won’t see from others, and only with the two equally talented stars.

Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia

After they went their separate ways as on and off-screen partners in 2019, the two would still express their willingness to work again with each other from time to time. Just recently, a rumor of their reunion project with director Cathy Garcia-Sampana was brewing online. With their heartbreaking return as JoshLia in Moira’s Paubaya music video, their lighter personas à la Vince and Kath are missed by their fans, too! Who knows? A revival of Rico Yan and Claudine Barretto’s Got 2 Believe might just happen!
