Celebrity couple Maris Racal and Rico Blanco have always preferred to keep it private, so it’s a delight for fans when they choose to gush over each other.
In a guesting with morning talk show Magandang Buhay, Maris did just that as she shared more details about their relationship. Though it was music that first made them click, she said that their connection eventually turned deeper as they realized that they both had big families.
“Siguro malaking percentage yung pareho kaming values in life, pareho kaming malaking family and very close together. So gets namin kung paano mag-treat ng family.”
“‘Yun talaga pinaka importante sakin.”
When asked if it was a challenge to start a relationship amid the pandemic, the 23-year-old clarified that she and Rico began dating before the pandemic—though she said that it was indeed difficult to maintain a relationship.
She and Rico first shared their relationship via Instagram on March of this year with a sweet duet of the Aqualong song, Brighter Than Sunshine.
Maris had captioned it with a simple “hbd” while Rico commented a telling “love you!!!”
Meanwhile, Maris also shared that she initially feared public scrutiny amid their public display of affection: “Natatakot talaga ako, napre-pressure ako kasi natatakot ako sa mga iisipin ng mga tao kasi strange yung relationship namin because of the age gap. It’s like the big elephant in the room.”
“But I’m really, really surprised sa reaction nila. Hindi ko inexpect na matutuwa sila.”
On a sweet ending note, the actress shared that their call names are “bubs” and “bubby”.
