On March 14, 2022, London-based designer, Maximilian Davis, was appointed as the newest Creative Director of Salvatore Ferragamo. The 26 -year- old designer is the youngest Creative Director in the Italian brand’s history. He may even be considered as one of the youngest designers to be at the helm of an established fashion label. To put things into perspective, he’s only a few years older than Olivier Rousteing when he was appointed as the Creative Director of Balmain.

Despite his age, Davis has dressed some of the biggest stars since he started designing from his bedroom just two years ago. You may have seen his work on Dua Lipa, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, and many more A-list celebrities. There were numerous times when his designs were praised on the red carpet or made it to the cover of magazines.

Davis has a loyal clientele because of his flair for perfectly cut garments that shape the body. He also has an imaginative take on modern dressing that exudes elegance and allure. The young designer loves experimenting with multiple textiles and colors that are inspired from Carnival dressing, 19th century Caribbean equestrian-wear, and contemporary evening wear.

He learned much of his techniques from Grace Wales Bonner, whom he worked for before starting his brand. While doing so, he was also a student at the London College of Fashion, where he finished at the top of his class.

Little did anyone know that was only the beginning for the British designer. Davis’ decorated list of achievements includes being one of the 20 semi-finalists for this year’s LVMH Prize. He is also a talent under Fashion East during London Fashion Week, where he showcased his final autumn/winter 2022 collection.

The future is bright for both Maximilian Davis and Salvatore Ferragamo. Having a young and talented mind at the helm of the brand will definitely signal a new era for the heritage brand. We can’t wait to see what the two will bring out together once Davis introduces his first collection for the label.
