Everyone in the team was equally excited for the January cover of MEGAStyle. We have wanted to execute a video game inspired creative direction since the Jessica Yang shoot. It was because in one way or another, we were all technically gamers. Whether it was The Sims, Animal Crossing, or Dragon Raja, the MEGAStyle team had a soft spot for the world online. A few months down the line, our passion grew stronger as we saw luxury brands incorporating video games in to their aesthetics. We wanted to strike the iron while it was hot and produce a hybrid between high fashion and video games with the two best streamers in the Philippines. This is MEGAStyle’s The Beauty Looks Explained, where we break down the inspiration behind the hair and makeup of each look.

Bianca Yao

The young, charming, and energetic Biancake is the gamer girl of your dreams. She loves anime, Star Wars, Gundam, and video games. It wasn’t too hard to find beauty pegs for Bianca because she has long luscious locks that could be made up in many different ways. Apart from this, she had natural doll eyes that were almost anime-esque. That’s why we chose two completely different characters for her to portray, so we can show her full range of talent.

Raging Red

The Inspiration: Aurora Queen of Hearts from Mobile Legends

Aurora Queen of Hearts from Mobile Legends has a manic smile. We can assume that the inspiration behind the video game character comes from Alice in Wonderland’s Queen of Hearts. We gave Bianca’s soft features a strong appeal by using red eyeshadow that reaches up towards the temples. We paired the look with a glossy red lip and a flower crown from Neric Beltran.

Heavenly Warrior

The Inspiration: Jean from Genshin Impact

We originally thought of Jean from Genshin Impact when we were conceptualizing the Bianca Yao’s cover. They both had silvery blonde hair and cute features. When the shoot came around, we were surprised to see Christine with bubblegum pink hair. It was definitely a brighter shade, but it played well with the overall direction of the shoot.

Christine Samson

Model, host, and streamer, Christine Samson, has got it. Yes, we’re talking about the It-factor. Star quality runs till the tip of her fingers, but it’s not all a natural coincidence. Christine has worked hard on building her skills and creating a name for herself. We wanted to showcase the strength that Christine represents through the two characters we’ve chosen for her.

Strong Siren

The Inspiration: Artery from Call of Duty Mobile

Strong is sexy. There is no doubt about that. We wanted to test the waters on Christine’s magnetic attractiveness. If you check her Instagram, we’d usually see her donning seductively sweet looks. Instead of playing with her strengths, we took the risk of giving her short dark hair and grungy makeup. It’s all in all a very natural look, but with a hint of edge.

Emerald Sphinx

The Inspiration: Cassiopeia from League of Legends

If you’ve ever played League of Legends, then you’d know how powerful Cassiopeia is. The lore behind the serpent lady is that she was the youngest and most beautiful daughter of a noble family in Noxus. She’s a power hungry master manipulator in search of ancient power. We wanted to channel all of that energy into Christine. That’s why we gave her cat shaped eyeshadow with small crystal embellishments to bring attention to her eyes.
