With so many roles on her list, how did she prepare for her acting comeback?

In her return to acting after nearly five years, our May 2024 cover star reveals she has teamed up with director Erik Matti once again for a sequel to BuyBust. Their collaboration follows the success of the 2018 film, which received praise for its intense action sequences, gritty portrayal of Manila’s drug underworld, and Curtis’s compelling performance as a tough and determined police officer. The film also generated significant buzz and discussion within the local film community, establishing itself as a noteworthy entry in the action genre. Now, she prepares for her latest challenge, as fans anticipate Curtis’s return to the action genre, and how she will look like then.

Sayoc Kali

The actress wields the blade of versatility as she plunges into the heart of Sayoc Kali—a Filipino martial art steeped in tradition and teeming with centuries-old wisdom. Like a warrior poised for battle, she sharpens her skills in her upcoming action spectacle.

In Sayoc Kali, practitioners train with precision and fluidity, mastering blade techniques, footwork, and defensive maneuvers. Through drills and sparring, they develop reflexes and timing, transitioning between offense and defense. This art emphasizes real-world self-defense skills, preparing practitioners for diverse combat situations.

Pilates

Stretching does a body good, and Pilates offers that and more

Curtis adopts Pilates as her key activity for physical and mental conditioning. She harnesses Pilates to elevate her performance to new heights and a new physique. The actor refines her strength, balance, and agility—attributes essential for her on-screen persona. With Pilates sculpting her physique and fortifying her spirit, Curtis is ready to tackle any challenge with a killer core.

Weightlifting

Curtis lifts weights as though hosting with microphones or hoisting the burdens of her on-screen adversaries. It’s lights, camera, action for the actress as she returns to the big screen, teaming up with Erik Matti for a new story on BuyBust. She says how she manages her fitness life, “Finding the time. But also knowing when you’re tired. Don’t push yourself. If you can, even if it’s just a 20-minute walk, that’s enough. Don’t push yourself or else you’ll get too tired.” With her dedication to Sayoc Kali, Pilates, and weightlifting, Anne Curtis is sculpting both her physique and her performance to perfection.
