“Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” pays homage to the legendary designer and his iconic contributions to the fashion industry. The theme inspired most of their younger attendees to showcase their interpretations of the late Lagerfeld’s artistic vision in a very unique way. From black and white fits to sparkling and colorful ensembles, let’s take a closer look at what our favorite Gen Z stars wore to the most fashionable event of the year.
Halle Bailey
The The Little Mermaid actress wore a tight lace halter gown with intricate beading that perfectly accentuated her toned figure, complete with a floor-length ruffled cape and silver accessories.
Jennie Kim
BLACKPINK’s Jennie Kim wowed in a black and white vintage Chanel dress with the iconic flower front and center. She paired the outfit with sleek black gloves and a Blair Waldorf-esque head band, completing the look with a choker necklace.
Olivia Rodrigo
Olivia Rodrigo looked stunning in a tasseled black and white gown with a neckline filled with intricate beading and flowers. She kept her hair and makeup simple, letting the dress speak for itself. Olivia also donned a new haircut—showcasing her take on micro bangs.
Emma Chamberlain
The content creator went for a more understated look that brought out many subtle elements that represent Karl Lagerfeld. Before changing to a more toned down outfit, Emma wore a sky blue coordinated coat and skirt as she climbed up the steps of the Met. She added flair to her look with a headband and blue eyeshadow to match, as well as stunning jewelry from Cartier—from her earrings, necklace, down to her rings.

The Wednesday star went for a classic Chanel look with a twist. She donned an Victorian-esque ensemble with a tight corset dress in tweed and accessorized it with gold details before completing it with a ribbon front and center. She definitely brought her own Wednesday essence to the steps of the Met.

The Last of Us’ own Ellie, portrayed by Bella Ramsey, hit the Met Gala with a classic Karl Lagerfeld-inspired ensemble: a matching coat, skirt, and pants decorated with small pearls lined up from top to bottom. She also wore a tie to the red carpet event to complete the look.

Madelyn Cline
Known for her role as Sarah Cameron in the hit Netflix series, Outer Banks, Madelyn Cline stunned everyone as she walked in with Stella McCartney who designed her lovely black gown complete with silver fringes. This is also the actress’ first Met Gala appearance.
