Watching K-Dramas Make Us Miss These 4 Simple Pre-Covid Outdoor Activities

By

No, it’s not always the weekend getaway; sometimes it’s just as simple as a casual walk

There are countless reasons why people are obsessed with Korean dramas, especially during this pandemic when lockdowns come and go—then come again. Most people resort to binge-watching their favorite K-drama series as a form of escape. In the harsh reality that we live in right now, K-dramas give comfort by showing a sense of normalcy in their worlds where people can still eat out, meet a handsome stranger, have spontaneous night outs or just simply ponder about life while walking on their way home. In a weird way, these normal activities feel nostalgic, as if they happened a long time ago; one can’t help but wish these seemingly normal K-drama scenes are real, especially now.

Let’s go back to some K-drama moments that are so mundane they make us jealous.

Spontaneous nights

How about a random basketball game with friends, a visit to a nearby convenience store, or a spontaneous night out with friends to do whatever and go wherever without hiding because it’s past curfew hours?

Randomly meeting cute people

Remember when you could still see people’s faces, and bumping into a cute stranger was entirely possible because there’s no social distancing? Imagine if Jae-On and Na-Bi never talked to each other because they were too scared of contacting a virus from a stranger.

Even the laziest person misses amusement parks

Amusement parks can be over-stimulating for some people (and chances are that someone is an introvert) nowaday the idea of liveliness and shared thrill that colorful amusement parks bring are sorely missed by many.

Walking home

This is probably one of the most ordinary things we miss during the pandemic: freely walking outside. Do you have those moments when you decide to take the scenic route home just to decompress after a long hard days? Sometimes you walk by yourself, sometimes you’re with someone; either way this is one of the things many hope to do again, hopefully without needing a mask and face shield.

Watching K-dramas feel like taking a trip down memory lane with these scenes. These are not extravagant out of town trips, but simple everyday moments that we took for granted before pandemic happened. It’s just the freedom that we had, to freely breathe in the outdoor air without fear that it would make us sick. Surely, these are the times when you look back and trace everything you should be thankful for.

However for now, we must do our part with these little sacrifices like observing safety protocols. Until it’s safe for all of us, we must stay home, get vaccinated, and keep these masks on.
