The Easy-To-Make Aperol Spritz Is Our Current Drink Of Choice


In practically all cultures, drinking is a social activity, where people come together and bond over their favorite beverages. This holiday season, surprise your loved ones by preparing a drink that appeals to many: the Aperol Spritz.

Made of oranges, herbs and roots, the uniquely bittersweet Aperol is often taken as an aperitif, which refers to an alcoholic drink taken before a meal to stimulate one’s appetite. But more than that, we are told that an aperitif highlights a particular social moment. There is no specific time for this–whether it be after-work cocktails or a moment before a homemade dinner, this moment is meant to be cherished.

To help us understand more about Aperol, we were invited to an Aperol Masterclass in 1898 Hotel Colonia en Las Filipinas with Campari Group’s regional brand ambassador for Southeast Asia, Symphony Loo. She taught us how to make the perfect aperitif: the light and refreshing Aperol Spritz.

Part Aperol, part Prosecco (a sparkling wine) and part soda, the drink was surprisingly easy to make. It is typically divided into 3 parts Prosecco, 2 parts Aperol and 1 part soda, but Loo teaches us that we can slightly adjust it to our liking. For example, since I wanted to taste more of Aperol’s bitterness, she recommended that we lessen the Prosecco to make room for it. To finish, we garnished our drinks with orange slices.

Loo showed us that in just a few minutes, you can make yourself a drink that is both surprisingly simple yet flavorful.
