‘Tis the season to be jolly—and that’s exactly where menswear is headed.
Punchy colors, bold graphics, and luxe menswear lounge are the gifts du jour for the MEGA Man. When it comes to holiday shopping, the editors are feeling cheery or chill. Still stumped as to what to give the men in your life? Try collector edition toys, candles to set the mood, and perhaps even a timepiece or two. They’ll all have to do it until the PlayStation 5 comes along.

RIGHT ON HUE

Be that kid-at-heart and express your fun and playful side as you get into the holiday spirit with stacked up blocks of color. Pulling off a color-blocked look may seem daunting for most guys. If you’re a little weary to go all-out in mixing and matching vibrant hues on your own, be on the lookout for polychromatic pieces all rolled into one—like the multicolored Epi bags from LOUIS VUITTON, color-blocked sneakers from ADIDAS, or the tri-colored pullovers from the recently launched LEGO X LEVIS collaboration. Pair that statement piece with your menswear basics or neutral staples and you are already breathing new life into your look.
Feeling bold and brave? Have a blast putting together solid hues and see which works best for you. A tip is to make sure your ensembles are all in the same color tone for maximum impact.
2020 may have been a dark and trying year for us all but injecting a little bit of color and fun into your holidays may just be the thing you’ll need to welcome the new year with an energized spirit and a positive outlook.
THE SILK ROAD
Daniel Reyes, Associate Fashion Editor
Let’s all admit it: a lot of us never really prioritized investing in a nice set of loungewear, not only because they are pricey, but they can also be hard to care for—especially if they’re made out of silk. It seemed impractical to buy such indulgent sleepwear. Although, of course, this was all before this pandemic made us reconsider our priorities. These days we are putting self-care right on the top spot and wanting to achieve our much-deserved peaceful slumber.
In fact, as the whole world is in some form of quarantine, there has been an impressive upward trend with countless brands creating their own take on luxe loungewear for the menswear department. Consumers left and right are splurging on luxe loungewear—from storied fashion houses like Gucci and Versace to local fashion designers such as Chris Nick and Série Nuit by Marc Rancy. You see, there’s really just nothing quite like wearing a set of luxurious, sumptuous silk loungewear. And the best thing about this is you can wear it whether you’re at home or going out for a quick snack with your mates.
GOLD SCHOOL

If you ask Virgil Abloh about when the death of streetwear will be, 2020 would be his answer. With this year coming to a close, I can profess that streetwear as we know it hasn’t died–it has changed. With themes of authenticity and sustainability at an all-time high, fueled by the escapist hopes of living in a time that isn’t now, vintage and repurposed clothing has taken over the scene.
Take it from the 90s-inspired vibrant t-shirt designs of pop culture icons, or the rise of independent artists and crafters making physical a vision with every cut and sew in menswear. As we look forward to what the future may hold, let’s not forget about the treasures we may have forgotten in the past.
